Brooke Whiting House of Art

The Brooke Whiting House of Art is a 1911 bungalow of stucco plaster that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. George Sansbury, a notable Cumberland architect, designed this home where Brooke Whiting grew up. Mr. Whiting was a lifetime member of the Allegany County Historical Society. Upon his death in 1998, he bequeathed his family's home and its contents to the society on the condition that they open it as a museum. His last wish was for his hometown and elsewhere to visit his Cumberland home and to encounter his historical treasures.
